Free iPhone app for CFDs and FSTs

Barclays Stockbrokers CFD and Financial Spread Trading app for iPhone

Contracts for Difference (CFD) and Financial Spread Trading (FST) offer an exciting alternative to conventional trading. Rather than buying and holding stock you can speculate on the price movement of thousands of underlying UK, US and European equities, as well as major stock indices, sectors, currencies and commodities, allowing you to profit from any correct predictions.

Of course, if the price moves against you, you will also lose money. Indeed you can lose more money than you initially invest. It is a high risk form of investment and suitable only for experienced investors. Make sure that you understand all the risks and, if you are unsure, take independent advice.

CFD and FST platform and app

Barclays Stockbrokers CFDs and Financial Spread Trading are provided by City Index Limited not Barclays Stockbrokers. You can trade on the move using the app to access your Barclays Stockbrokers CFD/FST account.

The app puts the world’s market at your finger tips, enabling you to get in and out of trading positions anytime, anywhere; so you need never miss an opportunity again.

What are Contracts for Difference?

CFDs are an agreement between you and a broker to exchange the difference between opening and closing prices when the contract ends. You predict whether the price will rise or fall and invest money on this basis. You take a long position if you think the price will rise, or take a short position if you think the price will fall. You make a profit or a loss depending on whether you have correctly predicted the direction in which the price will move.

What is Financial Spread Trading?

FSTs are aimed at experienced investors, and work in a similar way to CFDs. A Financial Spread Trade allows you to speculate on whether you believe the price quoted for a particular financial instrument is likely to strengthen (go up in value) or to weaken (go down in value). Any profit or loss is determined by the difference in the price at which the trade was opened and that at which it was closed.

FSTs are 'geared', meaning you pay a small initial deposit, allowing you to take a larger position than you might usually be able to and this can translate into higher profits or indeed losses.

Please ensure you understand the risks associated with CFDs and Financial Spread Trading:

  • They carry a high level of risk to your capital
  • They are not for inexperienced traders
  • The value of investments can fall as well as rise and you can lose significantly more than your initial margin or deposit payment.
