Investment Notes, structured products developed by Barclays Capital, offer you, the private investor, the chance to diversify your portfolio by giving you access to a wide range of underlying assets such as shares, commodities, indices or a combination of all three.
You will benefit from any rise in the value of the underlying assets that the notes are linked to. Many of our Investment Notes are designed to repay at least the amount that you invested when held for the full term. They can be traded online just like stocks and shares though you should aim to hold these until the end of their term to get the full benefit.
What if I need to sell before the end of the term?
Some of our notes offer the repayment of your capital if invested for the full term. You are free to sell your Investment Note, at the market price, at any time without incurring any further penalties, however you may get back less than you had initially invested.
Benefits of Investment Notes
- You can sell at any time although you should aim to hold them until the end of their term to receive the full benefit.
- Select a risk/return profile that’s right for you (some Investment Notes even repay your original capital when held for the full term)
- Diversify your portfolio with global exposure
- Access a wide range of underlying assets
- Set clear investment objectives
- Opportunity to invest from as little as £500
And some of the Risks
- Some Investment Notes are not designed to repay all of your capital at the end of the term – you might get back less than you invested.
- If you sell before the maturity date you might get back less than you invested irrespective of the performance of the underlying asset.
- Investing through Notes is not the same as investing in the underlying assets. You receive no income such as dividends only returns linked to the capital value of the assets.
Our Latest Investment Note
There are no Investment Notes currently available on the primary market.
Limited availability – don’t miss out
To get the full benefits of capital protection, if offered, you need to buy the Investment Notes directly from ourselves (through the primary market). Please be aware that this primary market sale is only available for a limited period. Following this all Investment Notes are available to buy and sell on the London Stock Exchange (secondary market), When a Note is designed to repay your original capital at maturity this obligation applies to the nominal value of the note i.e. the amount paid by the original investor. If you buy on the secondary market you might then, at maturity, get back less than you invested.
